Yamakawa Fuyuki is known for his performance in which he uses a Central Asian vocalization technique called Khoomei where sound is emitted by vibrating organs in the body. His installation titled The Voice Over intermingles public broadcasts and private memories involving voices. The voice of a family member taken from that person’s appearances on television, the voice on a personal recording he left after his death and the sound of a performance added by the artist himself produces an overlay of images that through television become public property, personal memory and the sound emitted from the body that we call a voice.
