Zmijewski known for work that record, in much the same way as observations in scientific experiments, the actions and reactions of people placed in a specific set of circumstances, based on the theme of political or ethical issues that produce the fixed notions we hold. He also is a member of the political action group, Krytyka Polityczna. Democracies records actual scenes that took place in Europe and neighboring countries of people gathering together and freely expressing themselves in a public space. The opinions shared and the locations may differ greatly from scene to scene, but he closely observes the physical form of the people who form the crowd as they traverse back and forth between order and disorder.
