Since 1999, he has established the Atlas Group that is creating an imaginary archive of the contemporary history of Lebanon and turning events in his native land of Lebanon into art. These events become stories that are both poetic and brutal and bring the spectator closer to the complexity of real issues facing Lebanon. The result is to show us both the possibilities for and the limitations of conveying history. In I only wish that I could weep (2002), we see how his heart was moved by visual material taken by a Lebanese army intelligence officer on a breathtakingly beautiful Beirut beach at sunset.
