The art unit consisting of older sister Yuka and younger brother Kentaro, born in Yokohama. SHIMURABROS. devise and produce audio-visual devices drawing on the medium’s ability to traverse between two and three dimensions to generate images. They are highly regarded for creating the physical texture of images lost among the changes occurring in imaging technology, as they trace archaeological changes in media from film to computer-generated images. In their latest work, Mouse Made in YOKOHAMA, they overlap the history of Yokohama as it has developed by modern-day industrialization and the figure of a mouse, spawning a three-dimensional world.
